Last Day of 1st Grade

Today Kohen and I had our last day of school....He was very ready and so was I....I don't think he was excited about summer as much as he was just excited about getting out at 1:00 and going to a friends house followed by meeting another friend at the waterpark...So he had a very busy and fun day....And I got to be his class' teacher the last 1 hr 15 mins of school:)....I was hoping they would stay busy and be good...We watched Horton Hears a Who while stenciling/coloring on sheets of paper...They really enjoyed tracing all the different stencils...Then it was a little boys birthday so the mom brought cupcakes at 12:30....Then it was just a matter of getting everything cleaned up and headed out the door for 1:00!...

Here are some comparison pictures of Kohen on the last day of school and then back on the first day of school...

Since Kresee's last day was yesterday, I still made her come outside for a picture:)
Last day in this 1st grade desk....

Kresee's Moving On Celebration

Today Kresee officially "graduated" 3K preschool...We had her little celebration at lunchtime and then she went to work with me for the afternoon...She had a great time at school helping me clean my room for summer break...
Here are her pictures we took this morning before we headed to school...
Comparison between beginning and end of year:)

Here we are at her school...Everyone brings lunch for a picnic outside...It was hot and windy---exactly what our weather has been like lately...

She was so excited...."I'm done with school? Today? I don't go back?"....She really wishes she was heading to KG this year, but I said one more year:)

Last Day of Gymnastics

Today was Kresee's last day of gymnastics for the year....I didn't sign her up for summer either since she wanted to do soccer camp with Kohen....I think she really liked gymnastics but missed dance and keeps asking when she can start dance back up....I said "I thought you were going to do soccer in the Fall?"..."I am but I can just do both"...geez....I don't know what we will do if she's in soccer and gymnastics along with Kohen in soccer and baseball...I better enjoy my summer!!!!

'We Did It' Pics

The Humane Society asked us to take a picture with our dogs and a sign saying "We did it" for a slideshow video they are putting together to of course promote adoption vs buying a puppy from a breeder...I was glad to help out and I can't wait to see the finished product...Since there are 4 of us and 5 dogs I knew we needed some help...I asked my sweet neighbor to come over and snap some pictures for us...Unfortunately, the two old ones would NOT participate at all...But the 3 willing ones were our most recent adoptions--Ellie and Sugar from the Humane Society and then Red from American Boston Terrier Rescue...I thought they turned out cute:)

1st Grade Awards

This morning was Kohen's awards for 1st grade...I was pretty excited for him knowing he had such a good year...We had a reason to celebrate him and all his hard work this year...Here he is sitting with his class until it was his turn to go up on stage...
Each kid was called up individually and handed a folder with all their awards in it...No smiles or anything from him--don't know if he was nervous or what--haha
Mrs. Barnard and Mr. Bell giving him his awards...

Then they called out some other awards...Kohen got to stand up for "A" honor roll and for having excellent attendance...But the best one of all was for AR (Accelerated Reader)...They called out the Top 5 kids with the most AR points in all of 1st grade and he was one of the top 5...Out of 80 something 1st graders!!--proud momma for sure....His reading improved so much from the beginning of the year until now...I couldn't be more proud of all the books he read and quizzes he took on them to earn points for comprehension...He got a special award from Mrs. Barnard because he was the Top AR Reader in his class:)

I made him sit down at home so I could take a picture with all his stuff:)
Here is his "A" honor roll award...
Excellent attendance award (given for 4 absences or less)
Work Habits award
Citizenship award for good conduct throughout the year...
And then AR award for the most AR points in his class!!
Kohen---I think you are more than ready for 2nd grade. I really can't believe this year is already coming to a close. I hope you continue to love and enjoy school; that you never stop wanting to learn. We love you so much and are so proud of what a smart boy you are!

Ranger Baseball--Spring 2013

Tonight was Kohen's last game for the season...It was their 1st year in coach pitch and although we only won this game tonight out of the whole season (but we did get 3rd place in the tournament), they did really well...We were the youngest team by far...Tonight there were 8 year olds and even a 9 year old...Our team is made up of 5, 6 and brand new 7 year olds!...

Kresee loves to run the bases before the games when she sits in the dugout with us...Thankfully Grammie comes just about every single game and watches her so Kerry and I can control all the boys in the dug out...She was running super fast:)

They practice warming up before every game...My favorite part seeing lots of parents out there playing catch with their kiddos...

I had to snap a picture of Kohen and his favorite fan....
Kresee had to get in on the action too...
Since it was the last game, Kohen played outfield for a few innings and then catcher...I kinda kicked myself for not bringing my camera all season when he was playing pitcher or 1st or short stop...Oh well...
He did make an awesome throw to home plate all the way from the outfield which held the runner on 3rd...
We got him a new bat several games ago and he got a hit every single time at bat with it...

Caught him looking over at me after he got a single:)
Daddy helping him get in his catcher gear
Practicing for a pop fly just in case:)

And they were sooooo excited to finally win a game...Last game of the year couldn't have been any more fun...They won 12-11...

And the team mom always does a great job taking the boys pictures and putting them on a CD for each parent...I really appreciate her every year!!

Kohen really really enjoyed baseball this season...So I think we will for sure sign him up for Fall baseball along with soccer...
