Red River Ski Trip

We took our annual ski trip to Red River this week, but this time we had a little girl go along with us....Kresee has been soooo excited and told us over and over what a great skier she was...Kerry and I were honestly worried...Just last week during the snow at Christmas, she was panicked walking around on the ice thinking she was going to fall...I kept threatening her that we weren't going to take her if she was going to cry the whole ski trip....But she did amazing...We drove halfway to Dumas, TX on Monday and stayed in a hotel there...We opened the car door and Kresee said "Why does it smell so bad?" It did smell a lot like cow poop:)..
Since it was New Year's Eve I assumed there would be restaurants open, but no such luck...We ate in a little mexican restaurant right by the hotel but we were starving and didn't care:)...Here is our one NYE pic for 2012!!!
Grandpa Randy and Sallye met up with us as well but they headed out about an hour before us the next morning...We made a trip to wal-mart to buy chains for our tires and it took forever..I was a nervous wreck because there was some bad weather the day before where we were heading and I don't think I've been so scared to drive in the car....But we headed on out and the TX roads were not great and didn't help my fears...I-40 was no fun...But once we hit New Mexico, the roads were a lot better...We drove all the way into Red River without too much of a problem...Here the kids are hanging out in the backseat watching plenty of movies and asking 100 times if we are there yet?
We made it to the Auslander Condos...2nd year in a row we've stayed there and we really like it...There was a great snowman already built and they wanted their picture by it...We got unloaded and headed over to Sitzmark to rent our skis...Then we headed to a Mexican Restaurant for dinner that Kerry, Kohen and I ate at 2 years ago...
The next morning we were up and ready....I finally was feeling a little better but my body was still pretty exhausted from this cold I've had the past few weeks...It took a lot of energy just to get the kids ready to go..Skiing is hard work...Since we are right by the lift we walked on over and made the kids take a seat while we bought our lift tickets...Aren't they so cute?

We did the bunny slope a few times just to refresh Kohen's memory and then let Kresee give it a whirl...She skiied between Kerry's legs and then we let her go a little bit on her own...She did really well and after 3 times, we were ready to move on...

We did the bigger practice slope a few times as well...Kohen was doing great....And we were both surprised how well Kresee was doing...She wasn't crying or scared like we assumed she would be...Then we thought let's go up the big mountain and have at it...Kerry and Kresee riding on the ski lift:)
I stuck with Kohen since he's easier and knows how to get on and off the lifts by himself...
We skiied till about 2 on the first day and went in for lunch...Both kids wanted a break so Kerry and I headed out on our own the last 1.5  hours before the lifts closed....
We skiied the whole time on day #2 as well...Kohen didn't need any help whatsoever...Kerry and I would switch back and forth with Kresee...She loved it and we took some video of both of them skiing:)...Overall it was a great 1st time for Kresee and Kohen did excellent his 4th time skiing...We love this trip and can't wait for next year....
