A few weeks ago Kerry noticed we had a little bunny nest tucked in the corner of the kids playhouse...We really left it alone...But since they got a little bigger and weren't all squished down in it, we could really get a good look at them...We knew we had at least 6 but didn't know if more were down there...But once they started coming out and hoping around, there were for sure just 6 of them...
They just stayed all snuggled together every night and day like this...We never saw the mommy...We read a lot and realized the mom stays away all day and only comes back to nurse them 1-2 times at night...
Then they got brave and came out of their hole but still stayed under the playhouse in a small area...
And then they started venturing out and would be all over our yard during the day...They were pretty easy to spot and find...and then they only to come back together under the playhouse at night to nurse...The mom would come and make a call (I didn't know bunnies could call) and they would come to eat....
Then after a few days, they got better at hiding...They would hide all day and we would never find them...But last Thursday night we were watching the Thunder basketball game...Kerry would go outside everynight with a flashlight just to see the babies...But then he got lucky!!...He came running in and said the mommy bunny was out there...Of course, I stayed far away and it was pitch black...I did my best on getting a picture....But she couldn't move or run b/c there were several babies nursing!!
It was so neat...We were so excited to see her...Sadly, we thought that was way more amazing than the Thunder beating the Spurs:)
We went on our anniversary trip knowing they would probably be gone when we got back and they were...It really has been fun this past month watching them...The kids have LOVED them:)
