St. Lucia--10 year Anniversary

Kerry and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary this past Thursday on June 10th at the lovely Sandals resort in St. Lucia....(For my sake, I am going to write down everything we did so feel free just to scroll through the pictures!!)

So we left the kiddos behind on Saturday afternoon...Headed to OKC to spend the night since our flight was at 5:30 am Sunday morning....It was hard leaving them knowing I wouldn't be putting them to bed for many nights...We ate dinner at yummy Poblano Grill....Checked in the hotel and then drove down the street to the airport so we could see where the long-term parking was and that way we knew where to go in the dark the next morning!

We woke up at 3:30 in the morning and was at the airport by 4:00...Thank goodness we got there when we did because it took longer than we expected....I was the idiot who put everything in my carry on bag (for the hotel) so when I went through security, unfortunately my bags did not make it....They had to throw away my lotion, sunscreen, facewash, and shampoo...They tested my contact solution and let me keep it for medicinal purposes...So not a great way to start our vacation!..haha....

We boarded a very tiny plane and headed to Atlanta, GA...Luckily, we had an hour until our next flight after we landed....That airport is HUGE....We grabbed a quick bite---a blueberry bagel for me and Kerry got a McDonald's biscuit....Kerry and I were not sitting together...I was on Row 11 and he was on Row 31...She was not able to change me, but moved me to Row 33 so I was at least closer to him....Luckily, the whole plane were honeymooners and no one was sitting together...So everyone switched and moved....Kerry and I both got inside aisles seats...So at least we could visit!!.....This plane was huge and we each had our own TV for our 4.5 hr flight to St. Lucia....

We arrived early afternoon in St. Lucia and then stood in the customs lines for about an hour and got on a little van that held 4 couples for a 1.5 hr drive to the resort....Talk about probably one of the TOP scariest things that I've ever done! They only have one road on the entire island...Just a big circle that loops around....It is up and down hills and mountains....90 degree turns...No guardrails...They drive on the opposite side of the road....But our driver not only drove crazy fast, he thought it was necessary to make insane passes along the way....We were on a freaking race in his mind....We somehow all made it in one piece to the resort!!

Since we had one little thing to eat all day, we were starving....They showed us to the Concierge Lounge and immediately served us their specialty, Rum Punch...We got to our room and had to wait on our luggage...But decided to walk around and found the pizza place (one of the things we ate EVERY day b/c they were soooo good)...Went back up to the room and got unpacked and headed down to eat dinner at the Old London Pub restaurant....Sundays are their busy day of departures and arrivals....So it was very low key night....We had the whole pool and hot tub to ourselves that Sunday night....But we didn't stay up to late and hit the sack....
Our view from our balcony....

Unfortunately, my body did not understand it was on vacation and still managed to wake up between 8 and 8:30....So 7 or 7:30 our time....We had room service for breakfast on Monday morning....We went and worked out...I said we would at least 2 times and we did:)....We got a spot on the beach (in the shade) and stayed there most of the day....We ate at the Barefoot restaurant for lunch because it's right on the beach and pizza for our late afternoon snack....
There was a beach party that Monday night, and they had so much food....We were laying in one of the hammocks before it started....It was fun...Then a big performance with some dancers....And the limbo...Kerry was called up on stage for that....Out of the 8 guys he was definitely the best....I took my crappy camera so it didn't want to take any in the dark...This was the best I could do....

Then they had some flame dancing....And they picked 3 men in the audience to do this!!...And Kerry got picked AGAIN!!...Isn't he crazy?????...And yes, I'm behind him taking pictures with my crappy camera (haha)....

Then we both got called up for a boy vs. girls contest....The boys won 4 out of the 5 times!

Tuesday we ate breakfast in one of the restaurants...They had a great buffet every morning....Then we rented a cabana right on the beach for 4 hrs....It was perfect...I wish we would have known how great it was going to be or we would have booked one for each day!!

Our cabana view....

Tuesday night we had dinner at Jazmins...They are only open on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday...So we needed to not miss out on the amazing Japanese/Chinese food....Sushi for appetizers...All the sake you wanted (I did NOT drink any of that stuff)...Egg drop soup and salad...Then tons of food served family style....Kerry said the beef was awesome and he would have eaten that every night!

Every morning while sitting out on the balcony, we would hear the canons fire...Then this pirate looking ship would appear...I guess it was one of the excursion/trips you could take...

We went during their rainy season...So it rained for a few minutes a couple of times each day....But Wednesday, they even said it was pretty uncommon....It rained very hard most of the morning (thank goodness we didn't have a cabana that day)....And we lucked out because we had massages booked for that morning out in their garden area...I wasn't too pleased that we got stuck outside thinking it was going to be super hot and humid...But the rain was so soothing and you could feel the mist of it hit you during the massage....That was a great 80 minute massage.....We had our usual pizza for lunch and ate dinner at the Barefoot Restaurant...On the way, they stopped us for a few pictures.....We are holding our favorite drink, a BBC (Bailey's, Banana and Cream)....

After dinner, a couple was playing and singing love songs up on the pool balcony...We rounded the corner to hear "Amazed" by Lonestar....That was our first dance at our wedding, so we stopped and started dancing...Even got a few other couples to join us...Then we just laid out on the pool lounge chairs and enjoyed the music....Later, they had various culture dancers....But we only watched for a few minutes because we were pretty worn out!

Thursday morning we had room service for breakfast....We worked out, went and hung out in the pool...Attempted a nap...I remember laying down at 1:30 and at 2:02 was woken up by some loud noise...So neither of us was able to go back to sleep...So we got up and went back down to the pool...

We had our pictures taken that afternoon at 5:15...It was short and quick (just the way Kerry likes pictures!)

Our last night there was Thursday night, which was our 10 year anniversary...The whole reason we went on this trip....So we booked a Candlelight dinner on the beach...It was amazing...The food was awesome....4 course meal....Kerry ate lamb for the first time and in his words it was "exquisite"!...It was such a beautiful night and we got to enjoy each other's company right on the beach....It was fun talking about the past 10 years and all that we've accomplished or done in that amount of time...From college, to our house, jobs, kids, etc.....Couldn't have been more perfect:)

No joke when I say in 2015 we are going somewhere!!...We talked a lot about how fun it would be to take a trip with some other couples...So start saving up and join us!!!!!

And I had to take a picture of the kiddos names in the sand...Kohen really wanted me to do this...Going to frame them and hang in their "beach-themed" bathroom...
