Franklin Field Day

Today was Field Day...A hot, miserable day that teacher's don't necessarily look forward to...But crazy enough, it was very overcast and nice and cool...I even got the chill bumps a few times...We could have done without the crazy wind, but it was a gorgeous morning for playing outside for hours...I love being at school so I can help out with things like this...The teacher's are responsible for their own classes so having a few extra parents there are always helpful...

Kohen and Sam stuck together the whole time...Love what sweet friends they are..

Kohen dancing for everyone in the boots...He was cracking me up:)

I think this was his favorite part of the 13 stations they had...
Afterwards they had lunch, then music/dance time in the gym for an hour, followed by popcorn and a movie...In all, it was a great fun day for the kiddos!

Summer Basketball

Kohen started summer basketball practice last week...His ymca basketball coach wanted to get some boys together to work out and maybe go to one or two tournaments this summer...They have been practicing for the past month, but I said we had to wait until both soccer and baseball were over before we could get started...We were a little worried since they had been practicing and the boys looked real good:)...But Kohen held his own and did a really great job...They worked out for 2 hours and it was a great practice...I enjoyed watching him!

Nasty Weather

We had some nasty hail today...I don't think I've seen anything this big ever or in a long time at least...We had just barely made it home and thankfully my car was safe in the garage when these hugs balls came falling down!..

The sad part about today was there was a large F5 tornado come through Moore, OK again...And the scary part was that mine and Kerry's old house and neighborhood is completely gone...It was awful seeing the news and knowing they were on our street...We saw where our old house should have been standing several times, but instead just a pile of debris...
Our house is under the letter 'e' in the word gone...Across the street is the elementary school and it was completely destroyed as well...Thankfully none of those kids were killed...The other elementary school a mile away wasn't so lucky killing 7 children...
The national news walked right up to our street...The closest house is our old neighbors..That is their tree in the front yard...We are just the 2nd pile of debris over...They were actually trapped in their cellar for awhile because of all the piles...I just can't even begin to imagine knowing everything is destroyed...
The paths of the 3 Moore tornadoes...Luckily, we were only there for the 2003 one and it hit a block or two north of us...We were safe in those same neighbors cellar that day with the 4 dogs....Red is 1999, Blue is 2003 and green is today May 20th, 2013...
Someone posted online a picture of our neighborhood below...The red 'x' shows where our first home as a married couple once stood...
I still can't wrap my mind around it quite yet....Prayers for all those people left homeless and the ones who lost loved ones...And the poor animals who are wondering what in the world just happened and where are their families....Breaks my heart

This picture was from our old neighbors facebook page...This is the front of the house...We were just to the left...You can still see our brick flower bed we built right behind their tree...

Run For A Reason

This morning I went and ran Run for a Reason 5K over at Lake Wichita....It was a free 5K and the kids spent the night with Grammie, so I thought I might as well get my workout in and run with some other people...You had to write on your arm why you run...I really didn't have a great answer...I run mainly to stay active, be healthy and set an example for my kids....It was really, really hot and humid...I haven't run but only one time since my half marathon 2 weeks ago so I knew it was going to be a fun one--haha...

Here is a group of us lining up for the news camera to film our arms with writing on them...
Running in towards the finish line...I really, really wanted to walk some of this but I didn't...I was just so hot and worn out...It wasn't easy....
I ran into one of my former students that I had at both McNiel and Rider...I love that he wrote stuttering on his arm...I worked with him for several years and never felt I did much for him...It was nice hearing how great he sounded and him saying thank you for everything I did for him...Very neat!

Career Day

Today was career day at Franklin...Parents could sign up and come talk to the kiddos about their occupations...Kerry and I, of course, opted not to speak...I can't talk in front of people--I don't care if they are only 7 years old; it's scary!...Anyways, one of the dad's is a pilot and brought all his gear...Out of the two classes, Kohen got picked to come and put it all on:)...Too cute!!

Mother's Day

Today was Mother's Day....The kids gave me some cute cards and Kerry and Kresee went and got donuts this morning so I didn't have to cook my usual Sunday cinnamon roll breakfast:)...This was my only picture I got with my two favorite little people...The reason I am a mommy is because of them...I love them with all that I have and I am so thankful God chose me to be their mommy...I know I'm not a great mom, but I sure do my best...
After lunch at the Maroney's they boys played a little baseball...Kohen is really loving baseball and Kerry loves to play with him just as much...

Kerry is a great pitcher and lets Kohen gets lots of practice hitting the ball....

The girls...Kresee got sunburned on her shoulders in a matter of minutes...Poor little white girl who hasn't seen the sun much--haha
Papa worked on pitching with Kohen for a little while...He did pretty good...He is going to both skills and pitching camps this summer...He is super excited...
We then headed out to my Nana and Papa's house...My sister had the kids last night and so they got to go to the store and pick out materials to make me something...It took all I had to keep an excited straight face without busting out laughing...He did sooooo great on my shirt and took a lot of time on it...I love my "gym shirt"...He wrote gym at the top and mom at the bottom...He worked so hard on puff painting that peace sign that it still wasn't quite dry 24 hours later:)....
Kresee painted me a pretty place....Of course I love it too:)
Then they rode on the golf cart for awhile before playing on the gravel piles...Still one of my favorite childhood memories of their house...I hope my kids remember doing this....

4 generation picture with my mom and nana....
Then the same with my cousin, her little girl, nana and aunt....
We thought we were ready to go, but everyone had to play a little more baseball...
It was an exhausting day!! But we had a lot of fun celebrating all the mommy's in our lives....

Coyotes--Spring 2013

Today was our last game for the spring soccer season...We ended up 6-3-1...We should have been 6-2-2 but I'm not bitter about a terrible ref that took away a goal and cost us a game (haha)...Our 3 losses were only 4-3, 2-0 and 1-0 so we had really close games!!...They did so well this season...They are finally starting to understand soccer more and realize that passing actually wins games...That soccer isn't about just one person....It was super fun watching their progress this season....

Kohen ended with 8 goals this season...Our best defender turned out to be better at offense this season then defense...Who knows what he will decide for the Fall:)
Our crazy crew...I love them all so much and even better we seriously have the greatest parents anyone can ask for...I truly treasure all of them letting Kerry and I do what we want to do and never ever get in the way....
Proud of each and every one of them...Can't wait for next season!
