Race for the Cure

Kerry and I signed up a few weeks ago to run in the Race for the Cure....This is only Kerry's 2nd 5K race and it was my 1st!...I was a little nervous...Eventhough I go run 3 or 3.5 miles own my own, I've never signed up for anything like this with such a big crowd....Over 3,000 people signed up to run or walk...

Luckily I had my friend Angela run with me...She's a pro...Done some 10K's before:)....She kept me at a good pace (which I know was probably a little slower than she is used to eventhough she swears its not)....We finished up in the 28th minute...Like 28.22 was the times I think....I needed her b/c Kerry left us in the dust finishing in the 24th minute!...
I don't have a picture after the race...But we really were fine and not too tired...Angela was just getting in her groove and could have gone several more miles...I'm not so sure about that!...But I really just wanted to run for Mike...I didn't sign up with the intention of running for him...But seeing as how he has been in the hospital this entire week because of a horrible staph infection, he said to run it for him....Eventhough this was for breast cancer, he's fighting his own battle with cancer and I thought of him numerous times while running....

Fireman

Kohen is going to be a fireman for Halloween...Cheapest costume I've ever bought...Dad and Sallye gave him a jacket and a hat and we already had fireman rain boots...So all he needs is some black pants and he's good to go....
We went to Central on Friday so that I could buy a pink cancer shirt, but they were sold out....But Kohen still got to hang out and climb on the trucks and honk the horns...He had a great time with the station all to himself:)

Jaxson's 6th Bday

The kids got dressed up in their camo gear yesterday.....

It was Jaxson's 6th birthday party...Laser Tag in his backyard....The boys had a great time running around with those guns shooting at each other....Even the adults got out there to play a few rounds....
The girls hung outside the whole time watching the boys run around....They had a picnic with Kay....
Kerry played the whole time.....

He thought he was funny taking down on the little kids:)

Kohen switched from blue to gold and gold to blue guns the whole time.....

He kepy hiding by me, so he wouldn't get shot....

Jaxson posing for me:)

Abby was the only little girl out there with all those boys....
But she had her brother Blake with her....

Went inside for cake and a surprise guest....

Jaxson had trouble blowing out the trick candles
Jaxson and Darth Vader

Kohen patiently waiting his turn...He was soooo excited!

Kresee wasn't scared but wasn't interested in him

Mike

I post to facebook often about Mike and how he is doing....But I don't on the blog very much....Soooo if you don't have FB, just know that he needs your continued prayers....He had round 2 of chemo treatment last Thursday at MD Anderson...He wears a pump the next 4 days (through Monday) that administers more chemo to him...When the pump stops, he has to be in Houston within 24 hrs (Tuesday) to get a shot....
So Mom and Mike were lucky enough to have someone fly them down to Houston yesterday for his shot....He also has been having some sciatic pain and they wanted to do a MRI on him as well....
But last week he had this little place on his knee and it was hurting him...On Sunday, it was worse....Monday he went to the doctor here in WF and he put him on some strong antibiotics and said that if it wasn't better in 48 hrs, he needed to be admitted to the hospital...
Fortunately, Mike's chemo doctor (who doesn't work on Tuesdays) came up to see him b/c his leg is now so swollen from the ankle to his mid-thigh, that it hurts too bad to walk on it...He was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon and they will remain there until he starts getting better since it has continued to get worse so quickly....
So keep Mike in your prayers that this infection heals quickly and that the medicines relieve his pain b/c he is really hurting right now:(

Bannie Chicks + Markie

Arkie (brown on the far left), Sharkie (brown with stripe on his head), Lawnchy (blonde), Archie (big black one in the middle), and Markie (little black one of the far right)

We have started letting the chicks out in our backyard while Kerry cleans out their bin...The first night they just stood there in shock and didn't move....Then we did it again a few days later....This was Kresee's first experience up close with the chicks...We've only allowed her up to this point to just peek in on them while they are in their bin...She was soooooo pumped about it...."Hiiiiiiii, baby titens"...."Wanna eat"...."Ohhhhh, hiiiiii baby".....She was in LOVE!!.....They actually flew around a little and ventured off some...But they really just like to be close to people...
I mean look how little they are compared to Miss Kresee....

The funniest thing was that they poop A LOT...So there was a little spot in the yard...I kept telling Kresee to watch out for the poop when she was sitting in the grass...Well she stood up and stuck her hand right in it...You would have thought it was killing her...She bawled!!...I had to take her in immediately and scrub her hand...."shooowee titen poopoo"..."poopoo shoooweee"...I couldn't stop laughing and I HAD to take pics of this super sad face (haha)
GET IT OFF OF ME!!!!

Then last night we let them out again....Kohen and I sat in the yard while Kresee fed them as much as possible..."Eat, eat"....She was determined to fill up their little bellies....

Here is Kresee's hand (on the left) and Kohen's hand (on the right) feeding the chicks...
And on a sad note: (yes, another sad story)
Kerry and I have been a little concerned about our little black one, Markie....He was one that Kerry bought from Atwood's....He ate and drank and pooped just fine...Yesterday, we just keep talking about something not being quite right with him...I was concerned b/c the other 4 have clearly grown and he honestly still looked tiny....Technically he's almost 4 weeks old now!...Kerry was bothered by the fact that he never would lay down....He would sleep standing up...The other chicks will sack out and are lounged out everywhere and he just stands there with his eyes closed...I went and looked in on him last night and he was huddled with the rest of them, but standing as usual....Not 30 mins later, I looked again and he was flat on his little belly...I was soooo excited to prove to Kerry that he DOES lay down...I got and get Kerry to come and look at Markie laying down...So we stand there and I knew....The poor thing was not moving nor breathing...I just lost it....My eyes are swollen today from crying so much...I had to hold him and love on him while Kerry dug a little hole in our flower bed next to Marfie....It just breaks my heart b/c the others are thriving and doing so well....I just hate that we don't really know what was wrong with him...In our hearts, I guess we were right thinking something was off....Sweet Dreams little Markie....
So this baby chicken thing is totally amazing!, but gosh I might be scarred for life! dealing with 2 deaths these past few weeks...Just kills me.....Praying that the other 4 are A-OK and that they grow and stay healthy.....B/C honestly seeing this just melts my heart:)

OU-TX Football

Kerry and I went to our 1st ever OU-TX game yesterday....Yes, we went to OU but have never been interested in trying to get tickets and fight the crowd, etc....But when our friends Brooks and Alisa asked us to go, we knew we couldn't turn it down!...We were super excited about going...But it's hard asking someone to watch your kids for an ENTIRE day and night (knowing we would be home super late)...But my super sweet mom (eventhough tired from Mike's chemo treatment in Houston this week), said she would gladly watch them...Thanks mom!...I can always rely on you....

So after Kohen's lovely soccer game at 8:30 yesterday morning, Kerry and I hit the road at 9:15...Brooks gave us great directions and we didn't have any trouble with traffic...We were parked at the Cotton Bowl at 12:00...I made sandwiches so we ate in the car and then headed inside the fair....I've never even been to that fair in my entire life either...So it was an experience...

You can not call on your cell or barely text b/c of soooo many people using their phones...We never got together with Alisa and Brooks before the game...We just walked around and looked at everything and then stood in line for coupons (because they are a mile long) for after the game to use....
We had great seats...We were up high on the first row...We had the pleasure of sitting or standing up when we felt like it...It was awesome and the sun was at our backs which was great...
At one point, in a certain section, you had cards to hold up...I took a picture of the jumbotron...It says "Live STRONG"...You probably can't really make it out...It was pretty awesome...They were trying to raise cancer awareness...28 million people right now have cancer...And, of course, now it really hits home....
Don't you like the girl behind us (haha)...
After we won!!!...Just wanted to snap a picture of the field....
We headed over to the Ferris Wheel after the game...I couldn't believe Kerry actually wanted to ride it...He usually isn't into things like that...BUT since it is so big, he wanted to ride....Pretty neat view from way up there....This is a picture of the stadium...

Kerry hanging on....
We HAD to try to some fair food before we left....We spent $30 on 60 coupons...It was 24 coupons to ride the Ferris Wheel...We spent 19 coupons on a foot long corn dog and water that we split...It was super good...We needed something to get rid of our headaches and tie us over until we got on the road to eat dinner somewhere....We had 10 coupons left and we wanted to try something different---Fried butter, fried beer, fried ice cream, fried margaritas, fried lemonade, fried moon pies, fried frito pies, fried peanut butter jelly and banana sandwiches, etc....But we had our eye set on Fried Cookie Dough and it was 10 coupons---PERFECT!...Well we waited a good 45 mins in line to try it...I can honestly say it wasn't bad at all...But we shared it b/c we knew it would be pretty rich....
We headed back to the car around 8:00 and got on the road...Stopped at On the Border for some dinner and got home at 11:45...We were soooooo exhausted...It felt awesome sleeping in until 10:30 when our little ones came home to greet us...It was a great day and I'm so glad we went...Thanks again to Brooks and Alisa for inviting us:)
